In this relaxed-atmosphere workshop, participants weave on pre-dressed floor looms, using a plethora of colorful and textural fibers in the making a one-of-a-kind, handwoven textile. All inclusive fee of $55.00 per participant covers equipment, accessories and fibers, and a maximum of 6 participants enables an instructor-attentive experience for new learners. All weavers welcome. No weaving experience is needed to learn the essential techniques of tapestry weaving. During this 4-session class with Michelle Follett, you will experience the entire process of weaving a tapestry, including learning basic weaving terminology. After learning to dress a tapestry loom, you’ll then explore weaving basic shapes and angles, and discover the role a cartoon plays in weaving curves. Beyond-beginners wanting a skill refresher will benefit, too. All inclusive fee of $175.00 per participant covers equipment, accessories and fibers, and a maximum of 6 participants enables an instructor-attentive experience for new learners. This continuing education course is designed to give the viewer an opportunity to see the process of dressing a loom.  In a presentation format similar to a television cooking show, the audience will experience all of the steps the weaver completes to prepare the loom for weaving.  From design decisions to warp-and-weft calculations, then on to measuring, beaming on, and tensioning; everything is covered for the curious to experience.  Time allowed for audience questions.

This continuing education course is designed to continue to expose the learner to plain-weave weaving.  The learner will use a ready-to-weave floor loom in learning the supplemental warp technique to make a one-of-a-kind scarf, having a unique striped effect.  The course requires past weaving experience or the Let’s Weave! Colorful Plain Weave course.
